This denarius belongs to a series issued under the moneyer Gaius Marius, one of three tresviri monetales appointed that year — junior magistrates who held nominal authority over the mint but operated entirely within Augustus's carefully managed coinage program. Agrippa's appearance here is pointed: by 13 BC he had just returned from a second term governing the eastern provinces and was formally designated Augustus's heir, sharing tribunician power. His death the following year made these joint issues a brief and historically loaded window.
