| Beschrijving keerzijde | Bare head of Octavian (the future Augustus) facing right, depicted with youthful, sharply defined features; on some specimens a light beard is present, reflecting portraiture from this transitional period of his career. The surrounding legend reads CAESAR•IMP•PONT•III•VIR•R•P•C•, styling him as Imperator, Pontifex, and Triumvir. The field is plain and the coin is bordered by a row of dots. This joint coinage commemorates the political alliance between the two triumvirs following the Treaty of Brundisium. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Struck in 39 BC to commemorate the Pact of Misenum, the uneasy agreement between Mark Antony, Octavian, and Sextus Pompey that briefly suspended their war and granted Sextus control over Sicily, Sardinia, Corsica, and the Peloponnese. The arrangement collapsed within two years. This joint issue — unusual in pairing Antony and Octavian on the same coin — reflects a political relationship already fraying at the edges, with both men fully aware the partnership was transactional.
RRC 528/3 is the rarer of the two obverse pairings in the series, distinguished by the specific titulature sequence placing Antony's name and titles first.
