| Beschrijving keerzijde | Two standing draped figures face one another across a central element: at left, a togated Roman figure — identified as M. Aemilius Lepidus in his role as Pontifex Maximus and guardian of the Egyptian king — extends his right hand in a gesture of protection or investiture; at right, a smaller youthful figure wearing Hellenistic dress, representing the young Ptolemaic king under Roman tutelage, extends his hand in reciprocation. The senatorial authorization mark S·C appears in the upper field between the figures. The legend PON·MAX TVTOR·REG flanks the scene on left and right, while M·LEPIDVS is inscribed along the lower exergue, fully identifying the moneyer and his offices. |
