The Eravisci were a Celtic tribe settled in Pannonia, on the right bank of the Danube near modern Budapest, and their silver coinage is a textbook case of provincial imitation — these denarii copy Roman Republican types so closely that misattribution was common before systematic study of the dies. The tribe likely adopted Roman coin forms to facilitate trade with legions stationed along the frontier, not as a gesture toward Rome but as a practical commercial decision.
