背面描述 Armored horseman galloping to the right, mounted on a prancing horse with bridle and reins clearly detailed. The rider wears a chlamys billowing behind him and extends a palm branch forward in his right hand. An Iberian inscription in Levantine semi-syllabic script appears in the lower exergual area below the horse. The composition fills the flan energetically, executed in a bold, provincial Iberian style with a dotted border.

附加信息

The Ilergetes were among the most militarily capable of the Iberian tribes, and their alliance with Carthage during the Second Punic War put them on the wrong side of Roman victory. After 206 BC, Rome consolidated control over Hispania Citerior, and the Iltirta mint almost certainly operated under Roman authorization — these denarii likely circulated alongside Roman Republican issues to pay troops and facilitate taxation in a region still being pacified. The imitative weight standard was deliberate, designed to integrate with Roman monetary infrastructure rather than compete with it.
