| 背面描述 | A cross pattee centered in the field, with arms of roughly equal length and slightly flared terminals, dividing the reverse into four quadrants. Small decorative elements or pellets appear in the angles of the cross. The surrounding circular Latin legend reads * + * NiCOLA AVR K G O O, referencing the lordship of Nicolò Doria over Castelgenovese. The strike is typical of hammered billon issues, showing weakness and irregularity consistent with the period. |

Castelgenovese — modern Castelsardo in northern Sardinia — passed to Nicolò Doria as part of the fractured Genoese colonial holdings on the island during a period when Aragonese pressure was systematically dismantling Ligurian influence across Sardinia. The Doria family had held the lordship intermittently since the thirteenth century, and this denar represents one of the final episodes of independent Doria coinage before Aragonese absorption rendered such local issues obsolete.
CNI II#1 designation places it as the primary catalogued type for this issuer — not necessarily the most common, but the anchor reference for the series.
