| Reverse description | Facing bust of Saint Paul, bearded and nimbed, depicted in a frontal hieratic style with curly hair and prominent beard, rendered in a stylized Romanesque-influenced manner. To the left of the figure, a long sword is depicted upright, the attribute traditionally associated with Saint Paul as patron of the Bishopric of Münster. The bust is set within a beaded inner circle, with a partially legible Latin legend in uncial characters around the periphery. The engraving is bold but somewhat crude, consistent with hammered denar coinage of the late medieval Westphalian ecclesiastical mints. |
