| Obverse description | Laureate head of Apollo facing right, rendered in fine archaic Greek style with delicate facial features, a wreath of laurel set upon wavy hair that falls in locks behind the neck. The portrait displays the characteristic idealized treatment of late Classical Ionian coinage, with a well-defined eye, slightly parted lips, and a graceful profile. The flan is slightly irregular, as typical of hammered gold issues of this period. |
