| Obverse description | Armored bust of William IV, Count of Bergh, facing left, dividing the date 1577. The legend, inscribed in Latin between two pearled circles, is punctuated by three heraldic shields: the arms of Egmond, the arms of Culemborg, and the arms of Meurs-Saarwerden, positioned at intervals around the field. The portrait is rendered in the characteristic bold relief of hammered Low Countries coinage of the late sixteenth century. |
