Obverse description Armored bust of William IV, Count of Bergh, facing left, dividing the date 1577. The legend, inscribed in Latin between two pearled circles, is punctuated by three heraldic shields: the arms of Egmond, the arms of Culemborg, and the arms of Meurs-Saarwerden, positioned at intervals around the field. The portrait is rendered in the characteristic bold relief of hammered Low Countries coinage of the late sixteenth century.
