| Obverse description | Crowned and armored bust of Saint Ludger facing right, holding a scepter over the right shoulder with the hilt of a sword visible to the right, all contained within a beaded inner circle. The effigy is rendered in the late medieval style typical of Low Countries hammered coinage of the mid-sixteenth century. The surrounding legend in Latin reads SANCTVS · LVDERVS · PATRONVS · NOS, invoking Saint Ludger as patron saint. |

| Reverse description | A rampant lion passant to the left occupies the central field, holding a suspended lion shield by a ribbon, rendered within a beaded inner circle in the vigorous heraldic style characteristic of mid-sixteenth-century Low Countries issues. The shield device references the arms of the Barony of Batenburg. The surrounding Latin legend, partially visible along the outer border, reads ∴ MONETA · NOVA · ARGENTEA : I · B · BA, proclaiming this a new silver coinage of the imperial Barony of Batenburg. |
