Obverse description Facing crowned royal effigy rendered in a schematic, archaic style typical of mid-14th-century Polish hammered coinage. The king's face is depicted en face with a prominent open crown adorned with pellets, flanked by flowing hair or drapery on either side. The central device is surrounded by a beaded inner circle, beyond which runs the Latin legend in uncial characters. The overall workmanship reflects the Gothic die-cutting tradition of the Kraków mint under Casimir III.
