Reverse description A large plain cross pattée centred in the field, set within an ornate quatrefoil composed of curved branches bearing pellets at their terminations, creating an elaborate decorative surround. A continuous Latin legend encircles the design along the coin's rim, repeating the king's royal titulature. The reverse design is typical of the cruzado type, referencing the crusading cross tradition. The hammered flan shows the characteristic irregular outline of the period.
