Obverse description The obverse features a right-facing crowned effigy of Queen Elizabeth II set within an oval frame at the top of the field, flanked by oak branches with acorns. Below, a royal crown surmounts the date 1977, flanked by laurel branches, with a ribbon bearing the legend 'THE QUEEN'S SILVER JUBILEE' in the lower field. The legends 'SILVER JUBILEE' and 'CROWNMEDAL' arc along the left and right periphery respectively, with the engraver's mark 'PM' at the bottom.
