| Obverse description | Central field features a crowned helmet surmounted by a displayed eagle with spread wings, serving as a crest. Below the helmet, a heraldic shield bearing the arms of the bishopric is flanked by elaborate mantling. The surrounding legend, rendered in Gothic lettering, is divided by the shield and reads SEB · EPS · ET PRINCEPS · LAV, identifying Bishop Sebastiano di Monfalcone as prince-bishop of Lausanne. The overall composition is characteristic of early sixteenth-century ecclesiastical coinage of the Swiss-Burgundian tradition. |
