Obverse description Crowned royal effigy in left-facing profile occupies the central field, depicted with flowing hair and wearing a prominent multi-pointed crown with ornamental fleurons. The facial features are rendered in a stylised medieval manner characteristic of Castilian hammered coinage. A partial Latin legend surrounds the bust, naming the king as ENRICVS (Henry II). The flan is irregular in shape, as is typical of hammered issues of this period, with the legend partially off-flan on some specimens.
