The Kalachuri dynasty — distinct from both the earlier Abhiras who used the same era-count and the later Chhattisgarh branch — controlled territories across the western Deccan and central India during the sixth century, their dating system causing persistent confusion in attribution even among specialist cataloguers. The Mangalam 3a designation places this squarely within the established typological sequence, though die-link studies for Kalachuri copper remain underdeveloped compared to their silver issues. Krishnaraja himself is attested in copper plate grants but historical synchronization with contemporary Chalukya and Vakataka records is still contested.
