Reverse description The reverse displays an open book or tablet design in relief, flanked by elaborate scrollwork and a radiant sunburst at the top, within which a monogram appears. The tablet bears two columns listing the names of the thirteen citizens who died defending Geneva during the Escalade of 1602, with the circular legend around the border dedicating the medal to those fallen defenders of the fatherland.
