Opmerkingen

By 1905, Banco de Portugal had been printing its own notes at the Estamparia inhouse facility for decades — a deliberate policy of self-sufficiency unusual among European central banks of the period, most of which contracted work to specialist firms like Bradbury Wilkinson or De La Rue. The quality differential was real and occasionally commented upon by contemporary critics.

The "Diário de Notícias" designation refers to a collector series issued by the newspaper, not an original circulation classification — this note was issued as part of a modern promotional partwork, with the 1905 original serving as the catalogued reference type.
