Obverse description Quartered shield bearing the arms of Spain, with castles in the first and fourth quarters representing Castile, and lions in the second and third quarters representing León, all contained within an irregular double octolobe border. The design closely imitates the heraldic device found on contemporary Spanish coinage of the Real series. The shield is rendered in low relief with engraved detail, characteristic of coin weight manufacture. The overall style reflects the standard royal arms used on Spanish silver coinage from the late 15th through early 19th centuries.

Reverse description A royal crown occupies the upper portion of the field, depicted with arches and surmounted by a cross, rendered in engraved relief with decorative flourishes along the crown's rim. Beneath the crown, the denomination and fineness specifications are struck in two lines of Latin characters across the lower field. The inscription denotes the weight standard of 21 deniers 8 grains applicable to the 8 reales coin. The surface shows characteristic wear and patination consistent with a working coin weight of brass.
