| Beschrijving keerzijde | A tetrastyle temple of Roma and Augustus occupies the central field, within which the standing figure of Nerva to the left is being crowned with a wreath by a female figure to the right, possibly Fortuna, who holds a cornucopiae; the frieze of the temple bears the inscription ROM ET AVG. The scene commemorates the honoring of Nerva by the Koinon of Asia, and the reverse legend COM ASI appears in the field flanking the temple. The composition reflects the provincial cistophoric tradition of the Asian mint workshops. |

The cistophorus was a regional denomination tied to the western provinces of Asia Minor, worth three denarii but never fully integrated into the standard imperial tariff system. Nerva's Asian cistophori were struck at the provincial level under the COM ASI authority — the koinon of Asia — rather than at Rome, making them administratively distinct from his metropolitan silver. Nerva died in January 98, less than two years into his reign, which compresses the entire cistophoric output of his principate into an unusually narrow window.
