| Beschrijving voorzijde | Jugate busts of Mark Antony and Octavia facing right, rendered in high relief on an irregular flan. Antony, positioned in the foreground, is depicted with a wreath-adorned head and a draped bust, his strong profile characteristic of late Republican portraiture; Octavia appears immediately behind him, her hair arranged in a neat coiffure with a stephane, her draped bust delicately rendered. The two busts are enclosed within a beaded border, with the encircling Latin legend reading M·ANTONIVS·IMP·COS·DESIG·ITER·ET·TERT, distributed around the full circumference of the field. The portrait style reflects the Hellenistic artistic tradition prevalent in the eastern mint of Ephesus. |
