| Beschrijving keerzijde | A tetrastyle temple of Diana Ephesia depicted in frontal elevation, with four columns supporting an ornately decorated entablature and pediment surmounted by a central acroterion. Within the intercolumniation stands the cult statue of Diana of Ephesus (Artemis Ephesia) in the characteristic frontal, multi-breasted xoanon form, flanked by additional decorative elements between the columns. The legend DIAN EPHE is divided across the field to either side of the temple structure. The overall rendering conveys the grandeur of the celebrated sanctuary at Ephesus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. |
