| Reverse description | A sheaf of six bearded wheat ears bound together at their stems, rising elegantly from a central knot or band, the heads fanning outward in a symmetrical arrangement that fills the field. The stalks and leaves are rendered with fine engraving detail, evoking themes of Augustan agricultural prosperity and divine favour. The legend AVGVSTVS is inscribed horizontally across the lower field, divided by the central binding of the sheaf, within a beaded border. This reverse type is distinctive to the Pergamene cistophoric series and alludes to the abundant harvests associated with the pax Augusta. |
