The legend AVGVSTVS is inscribed in two parts flanking the sheaf, AVG·V to the left and STVS to the right, in bold Roman capitals. The composition is characteristic of the cistophoric series struck under Augustus in Asia Minor, evoking themes of agricultural abundance and the prosperity of the new Augustan order. |
