| Reverse description | A sheaf of six bearded grain ears bound together at the centre by a transverse tie, their stalks fanning outward below and their heads spreading across the upper field in a symmetrical arrangement. The design is enclosed within a plain beaded border that frames the entire reverse. The legend AVGVSTVS is inscribed in two parts flanking the sheaf, AVG·V to the left and STVS to the right, in bold Roman capitals. The composition is characteristic of the cistophoric series struck under Augustus in Asia Minor, evoking themes of agricultural abundance and the prosperity of the new Augustan order. |
