The effigy is flanked on either side by vertical curved ears of barley, emblematic of royal and religious authority in Aksumite coinage. The surrounding Greek legend bears a Christian votive inscription invoking divine grace. The reverse design mirrors the obverse in composition while presenting an alternative royal portrait type. |
