The central cartouche bears the large denomination inscription 壹圓 (1 Yuan) in classical script, flanked by two oval vignettes — a traditional Chinese pavilion beside water at left and a multi-story pagoda atop a hillside at right. Szechuan's provincial currency issues of the early Republic period reflect the extreme fiscal fragmentation of post-dynastic China, where warlord-controlled provinces printed their own notes with little coordination and even less backing. By 1921, Szechuan was under shifting military governance, and provincial paper was frequently discounted or refused outright in neighboring territories.
P#S2827 is among the less commonly encountered Szechuan provincial issues — the series suffered heavy attrition both from active circulation in a cash-poor interior province and from deliberate destruction during subsequent monetary consolidations under Nationalist administration in the late 1920s.
