Reverse description An eagle standing to the left, wings spread in a heraldic posture, with head turned back to the right. To the left of the eagle, a small bucranium (bull's head) is visible in the field. The abbreviated civic legend ΑΛΙ (for Halikarnassos) appears along the upper periphery of the flan. The composition is characteristic of the iconographic tradition employed by Karian coastal cities during the early fourth century BC.
