| Obverse description | Bare-headed, bearded male bust facing right, rendered in a robust archaic Sicilian style with wavy hair swept back from the forehead. The portrait is set within a plain field enclosed by a beaded border running along the coin's irregular periphery. The facial features — prominent brow, full beard, and strong jaw — suggest a local heroic or divine effigy, possibly Zeus or a local river god. No legend is present on the obverse. The die work is boldly engraved, characteristic of Siceliot bronze coinage of the late third century BC. |
