| Obverse description | Royal effigy of Hormizd I in right-facing profile, wearing a distinctive crested helmet terminating in a lion's head at the front, with the crest formed by a stylized lion's mane surmounted by a flower-like globe, and a secondary globe at the lower edge of the helmet. The king displays curly hair, a beard with the pointed tip drawn through a ring, and wears an earring and necklace; the draped bust terminates in four curved lines. A Pahlavi (Parsik) legend commences at the left shoulder and extends around the effigy. |
