Krannon was a powerful Thessalian polis whose political influence peaked in the fifth and fourth centuries BC, yet its coinage remains sparsely documented. The city is best known to history for the Battle of Crannon in 322 BC, where Macedonian forces under Antipater crushed the last coordinated Greek resistance following the Lamian War — effectively ending Athenian-led opposition to Macedonian hegemony.
