Obverse description Bare head of Achilles facing right, wearing a laurel wreath, rendered in the late Classical Greek style with flowing locks visible behind the ear and along the neck. The portrait is boldly modelled in high relief, occupying the full field of the flan, with no surrounding legend. The facial features are idealised, with a strong profile characteristic of Thessalian civic bronze coinage of the early Hellenistic period.
