| Aanvullende informatie |
Halos was a Thessalian city with an interrupted existence — it was destroyed by the Pharsalians in the late fifth century BC, then refounded by Macedonian general Parmenion around 302 BC under orders from Cassander. This coin belongs to that second incarnation of the city, which lasted only a generation before Halos was again destroyed, this time during the Social War of 264–261 BC. The municipal bronze series is consequently tight in date range and modest in volume.
BCD Thessaly II #86.3 cross-references a specimen from the celebrated BCD collection, one of the most rigorously documented Thessalian hoards ever catalogued.
