Chalkon

Skiathos was a small Aegean island whose autonomous bronze coinage in the mid-fourth century BC reflects a period before Macedonian consolidation swallowed much of the northern Greek world. Philip II's campaigns through Thessaly and the surrounding region in the 340s effectively ended meaningful civic independence for many issuing authorities in this zone, making this a terminal issue — struck right at the edge of that political contraction.
