Selge was one of the few cities in Pisidia that successfully resisted absorption into the Seleucid administrative sphere, maintaining autonomous coinage well into the second century BC. This small bronze was likely struck for local market use in a city whose economy depended heavily on timber from the Taurus highlands and the trade routes threading through the narrow Eurymedon valley passes.
The "v" suffix on the BMC reference indicates a variety not fully catalogued in the primary sequence — minor die differences that Pisidian bronzes accumulate in quantity given the region's fragmented municipal minting habits.
