| 背面描述 | Thessalian horseman in full gallop to the right, wearing a crested helmet and billowing chlamys, with couched lance levelled in attack position on a prancing horse. The dynamic composition reflects the military equestrian tradition characteristic of Thessalian bronze coinage of this period. The ethnic inscription ΠΕΛINNAIΩN curves around the type in the field. |

Pelinna was a small Thessalian polis in the Histiaeotis region, and its bronze issues are among the scarcest municipal coinages from the area — the town itself rarely appears in ancient sources, which makes the coins among the few surviving evidence of its civic identity. The BCD collection, which formed the backbone of serious Thessalian numismatics, contained only a handful of attributable Pelinna bronzes, a reflection of how limited this output was relative to neighboring mints like Larissa or Pharsalos.
