| 正面描述 | Youthful head of Herakles in left profile, draped in the scalp of the Nemean lion, the skin knotted at the throat with the mane visible across the crown and nape. The facial features are rendered with compact, archaic-influenced modelling typical of Thessalian bronze coinage of the late Classical period. The effigy occupies the majority of the flan within a plain field, with no border or legend present. |

Skotoussa was a Thessalian polis of middling importance — known primarily as the site of a significant Macedonian garrison during Philip II's consolidation of Thessaly in the 350s BC. The city's bronze small-change issues almost certainly postdate that subjugation, circulating within a regional economy increasingly tied to Macedonian military logistics rather than independent civic trade.
