Kebren was a small Troad settlement whose independent coinage effectively ceased following Antigonos I Monophthalmos's consolidation of the region — most of its population was synoikized into Antigoneia by around 310 BC, which explains the hard terminus on issues of this type. The city had briefly flourished under Persian suzerainty, and its bronzes circulated in a tight regional pocket with little reach beyond the Troad.
The SNG von Aulock specimen remains the more frequently cited reference for die study of this denomination.
