| Reverse description | Striding male warrior figure facing left, depicted nude or near-nude in dynamic pose with spear raised in the right hand and a shield held in the left arm. The figure strides vigorously to the left in a martial posture typical of Thessalian and central Greek bronze coinage of the period. The ethnic legend ΜΑΛΙΕΩΝ is inscribed in the field, identifying the issuing community of the Malians, of whom Lamia was the principal city. The overall composition is typical of the agonistic and military iconographic repertoire of late Classical Greek civic bronzes. |
