He brandishes a short sword (xiphos) in his extended right hand and bears a large round hoplite shield on his left arm, the shield's interior revealing a hippocamp device to the right. The ethnic legend ΤΡΙΚΚ ΑΙΩΝ is disposed in two parts within the field, identifying the issuing city of Trikka in Thessaly. The overall composition reflects the bold, energetic engraving style typical of Thessalian bronzes of this period. |
