Ekkarra was a minor Thessalian community whose independent bronze coinage is attested only within this narrow window of the late fourth century BC — likely a brief assertion of local civic identity during the turbulent period following Macedonian consolidation of Thessaly under Philip II. Whether production ceased by choice or absorption is unresolved. The BCD collection, which remains the definitive reference corpus for Thessalian bronzes, yielded only a single example at the first sale.
