Obverse description Head of a wolf facing left, rendered in low relief with characteristic open jaws and pricked ears, occupying the majority of the flan. The type alludes to the wolf (lykos) sacred to Apollo, a recurring civic emblem of Argos. The strike is irregular, consistent with hand-hammered bronze coinage of the Hellenistic period, and surface patination is dark green.
