The identity of the figure is uncertain, tentatively identified as Peloros, the eponymous hero of Phalanna. Phalanna was a minor Thessalian city in the Perrhaebian region, and its independent bronze coinage is poorly documented — only a handful of institutional collections hold attributed examples. The BCD collection, assembled by a single dedicated specialist over decades, remains the primary reference point for distinguishing Phalannean issues from the broader and easily confused Perrhaebian civic series.
