Issued in 2012 to mark the centenary of Kim Il Sung's birth — the date North Korea designates "Day of the Sun" — this is a commemorative certificate rather than circulating currency, though it carries the Central Bank's authority. The DPRK has produced several such commemorative issues around milestone political anniversaries, and these pieces circulate almost exclusively through diplomatic channels, state gift packages, and foreign collector networks rather than domestic commerce.
