Obverse description A winged male genius stands in high relief at centre, resting his left hand on an anvil, with the coat of arms of La Chaux-de-Fonds to his left and industrial machinery to his right. A panoramic view of the rebuilt town fills the background. The engraver's signature HUGUES BOVY F. appears in the lower right field, with the dates 1794 – 1894 in the exergue and the legend HONNEUR AU TRAVAIL along the upper rim.
