Obverse description A stylized castle with a high surrounding wall occupies the central field, enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The castle features three towers with crenellations, the central tower being the tallest, and the arrangement of the towers relative to the wall varies by subtype. Beneath the castle, horizontal wavy lines represent the sea, a characteristic iconographic element of the ceitil coinage. The peripheral Latin legend encircles the design, rendered in Gothic lettering with numerous die variations known across this group.
