Obverse description Central field dominated by the elaborate Ottoman tughra of Sultan Mahmud II, rendered in flowing calligraphic style with characteristic upward projecting shafts (tuğ) and sweeping horizontal loops. The tughra is enclosed within a crescent-shaped cartouche formed by a beaded or rope-patterned border. The surrounding field is decorated with a wreath of stylized foliate and floral motifs interspersed with six-pointed stars, typical of late Ottoman hammered coinage from the Algerian Regency.
