Obverse description Central shield of the Hornes family arms, surrounded by a decorative border of flames, with the shield of Bouillon positioned above to the left and the shield of Looz positioned above to the right, reflecting the territorial claims and heraldic identity of Bishop John of Hornes. The heraldic devices are rendered in the bold, stylized manner characteristic of late-medieval Liège hammered coinage. A circular legend in uncial Latin surrounds the entire composition.
