Brûlé - John of Hornes

John of Hornes held the Prince-bishopric of Liège from 1484 until his death in 1505, a period marked by chronic conflict with the city's guilds and persistent pressure from the Habsburgs consolidating control across the Low Countries. The brûlé — a small copper fractional — was the workhorse of everyday petty commerce in the Meuse valley, circulating through markets and taverns in quantities that made survival in collectible condition genuinely unlikely.
