Obverse description Central field displays a bold long cross with arms extending nearly to the border, dividing the flan into four quadrants. The cross is rendered in a plain style typical of late medieval Low Countries hammered coinage. A circular legend in uncial Latin lettering surrounds the design, reading + IOhAn D GAVERE DOmI, identifying John of Gaveren as lord. The coin exhibits an irregular flan with characteristic die-struck surfaces and pronounced patination.
